Message from Steve:
Greetings to anyone who is thinking of coming to my workshop -
medieval hurdy gurdy. This is not about the authentic instrument of
the time and what may have been played on it; rather, it concerns
finding good material from the middle ages and playing on a modern
instrument with due respect to medieval structure/accompaniment etc.
- Steve.
Workshop Level: progressive - it will start off easy and get very hard, so it should be of value to anyone interested in Medieval music.

Message from Michael Musket:
Tuning is G/C. If you have a D/G instrument and would like to observe
you are welcome, but you should also have the sheet music.
Please tell me if you will be a player or an observer.
I should prefer to have your booking by Sun 11th March, but you may
still join later if you notify me. ASP please.
In the meantime you could study the musette on p.25 of the HG Method.
Note that the grace notes start ON the beat, as do the trills, and take
half the value of the written note. Without these characteristics the
special flavour of the baroque period would be lost.

This workshop is aimed at those who are gradually building up towards a coupe-de-4 and also for those who wish to improve their coup-de-4 technique.
All abilities will be catered for, from those who are struggling to get a coup-de-1, to those who can already do a coup-de-4 and wish to progress to variations within the coup-de-4 structure. If there is sufficient interest, we can also look at schottische rhythms.
Both G/C and D/G instruments will be suitable for this workshop

This workshop will concentrate on right-hand technique for two different rhythms: the jig rhythm and the 3-8 bouree.
It is aimed at a wide range of abilities, from those who can buzz at least a steady coup-de-1, to those who are able to buzz a coup-de-4.
Both G/C and D/G instruments will be suitable for this workshop.
